About This Company
The Suez Canal Container Terminal (SCCT), located in Port Said, Egypt at the mouth of the Suez Canal on the Mediterranean Sea, is a major transshipment hub for the Eastern Mediterranean region and a gateway port for domestic Egyptian goods.With the completion of a dredging project that has deepened the terminal draft from 13.9 to 14.5 metres, and the expected completion of 24 Panamax super cranes at the conclusion of the Phase II expansion now underway, SCCT is able to handle the largest container vessels in the global container fleet.
Scheduled for commissioning in 2012, the second phase will increase SCCT's annual capacity to 5.4 million TEUs, making it the largest container terminal on the Mediterranean. SCCT was inaugurated in 2004 as a joint venture with APM Terminals majority shareholder and operator.
